Difficult heritage: negotiating the past in Nuremberg and Beyond

In fact a set of variously-titled projects between 1999 and 2008, this long-term archival and ethnographic research, focused on the former Nazi party rally grounds in Nuremberg, including the making of a new documentation centre. It was supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the AHRC; and involved visiting fellowships in the Institut für Soziologie at the Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen-Nürnberg and in the Institut für Europäische Ethnologie, Humboldt University, Berlin
