Classical Civilisation and Art History

Units relate to the cultures of Classical Greece and Rome

Classical Civilisation and Art History encompass course units in Classics, Archaeology and Art History. Other course units available are from History, Religions and Theology, Philosophy and Earth Sciences.

Most course units relate to the cultures of Classical Greece and Rome, but they take quite different approaches. Students taking Classical Civilisation will focus more closely on literature and ideas, and the course units you will follow are usually therefore in the literatures and the arts of the ancient world. Those whose interests lie more in the specifically archaeological study of the ancient world tend to complement their study of Archaeology as a discipline either with subjects taken in History or more scientific courses in Earth Sciences.

There are no specific subject requirements for admissions, and students indicating an interest in this area are particularly welcome.
