Film Studies
If you select Film Studies as one of your areas of specialisation you study core course units in film theory and the history of film drawn from Europe, Latin America and Hollywood. These will be delivered by Drama, Languages, Linguistics and Cultures and Art History. The core course units study a mix of mainstream and avant-garde film material and will provide a thorough grounding in film history, film theory and its application to questions of style and form.
In your first year you must study:
- The Art of Film
- Introduction to World Cinema
You may take further courses from:
- Drama
- Modern Languages
- Art History
- Sociology
- Social Anthropology
- History of Science
- American Film (from Year 2)
You should note that Film Studies emcompasses the theoretical and academic study of film. There are no practical film course units available within this area of study.
