Faculty of Humanities

Research with impact

Our research is making a difference locally and globally, including with many of the world’s least advantaged groups.

Humanities has a range of flagship centres, institutes and networks working collaboratively across disciplines to conduct significant research that addresses society’s most pressing issues of fairness.

This includes research undertaken on a variety of issues, including:

  • global health inequalities;
  • poverty;
  • education;
  • access to natural resources;
  • conflict;
  • ageing;
  • climate change;
  • gender; and
  • class and ethnicity.

Global and local impact

Read more on how our research within the Faculty of Humanities is making a positive impact to societies nationally and internationally.

How our research is addressing the causes and consequences of inequalities specifically in our city region of Greater Manchester is highlighted through our Just Greater Manchester initiative.

Our research also addresses inequalities globally and Humanities leads on the Research Beacon of Addressing Global Inequalities.

Research within our Schools

The research carried out within the Faculty's Schools also has a significant impact and makes a difference.
