April 2015

Unwanted clothes required for performance piece

(26 March 2015)

Performance artist Peter Jacobs, a PGT Programme Administrator within the Institute for Development Policy and Management in the School of Environment, Education and Development (SEED), is encouraging staff to donate clothes for his new performance piece.

The piece, LOST | FOUND, will be presented at the University of Central Lancaster as part of its DERELICT season and Peter requires a large quantity of unwanted adult male and female clothing, especially tops, trousers and dresses. The clothes will be used to dress the space and will be randomly worn by the performers.

Peter Jacobs said: ‘LOST | FOUND explores the links between personal identity and the identities we construct through the way we dress, and what remains when those connections are broken. I am doing this in quite an abstract way merging performance art installation with something that approaches contemporary dance – using non-dancers!’

After the performance has taken place, on Saturday, 18 April, the clothing will be donated to charity.

Anyone wanting to donate clothes should drop them off at the SEED student information desk on the 2nd floor of the Arthur Lewis Building by Friday 10 April.
