JustFest: Volunteering opportunities
(31 March 2015)
PSS staff in Humanities are invited to get involved in the Faculty’s JustFest as volunteers.
If you can spare three hours in the morning or afternoon, or both, to help out on the day, then register your interest here.
You will also be required to attend a 45-minute briefing on Monday 20 or Tuesday 21 April, and must have the approval of your line manager to take part.
What is JustFest?
As part of the University’s 2020 strategy, every undergraduate will be given the opportunity to explore some big global issues. Through the Ethical Grand Challenges Programme, first year students will engage with Sustainability, second years will grapple with Social Justice and third year students will explore Workplace Ethics.
Each Faculty has been given responsibility to develop pilot activities for specific themes during 2014-15 and the Faculty of Humanities is bringing social justice issues to life through a Social Justice Festival. JustFest has been created by a group of academics from all schools in the Faculty working in collaboration with the Student Development & Community Engagement Division.
It will include:
- In the morning a group of around 400 second year students from across the Faculty attending workshops on a range of social justice issues.
- In the afternoon, on the open space adjacent to University Place, there will be two tents: a performance tent and an exhibition tent. These venues will be open to all students, and performers invited to take part include musicians, hip hop artists and poets.
