John Rylands Research Institute – Annual lecture

(27 April 2015)

The importance of the University Library’s Special Collections will be highlighted once again this Thursday, 30 April at the John Rylands Research Institute Annual Lecture.

Taking place at The John Rylands Library, this year’s lecture will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Emile G. L Schrijver, Professor of Jewish Book History and curator of the Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana (Special Collections) at the University of Amsterdam. He will discuss how artefacts housed in the Library are vital for the study of Hebrew books since the invention of printing.

Professor Peter. E Pormann said, “Prof. Dr. Emile G. L  Schrijver is an expert of Hebrew manuscripts, in particular of the postā€medieval period, and of Jewish printing, he has published and lectured extensively in Europe, Israel and North America, and I am delighted to welcome him to the Institute.”

Over 100 guests have confirmed to attend what promises to be an insightful evening.
