Data Protection refresher training
(1 August 2016)
The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has advised that, in addition to Data Protection training being mandatory for all staff, regular refresher training should also be completed.
Therefore, the University’s Information Security Governance Group has agreed that the online Data Protection course must be completed by all staff with an active IT account, on a two-yearly basis. Staff who completed the course more than two years ago should now undertake it again. Staff members with active IT accounts, who have not yet completed the training, should do so as soon as possible via the University’s training catalogue.
After reading the instructions, click on the “Apply” button at the bottom of the page to add the course to ‘My Training and Development’ profile. An email will then be sent with a link giving access to the course. Staff who complete the training will receive an email confirming completion, which should be sent to their local Data Protection Guardian for audit purposes.
Staff can check when they last completed the training by accessing their ‘My Training and Development’ profile (via My Manchester).
