Health and Safety Policy and Guidance notes
The new Health and Safety Policy and Guidance notes have been approved at the Humanities Policy and Resources Committee (HPRC), and can now be read on HumNet. The policy also includes important new guidelines for the induction of staff (see section 4.31). It is imperative that line manager/supervisors arrange inductions for all new and transferring staff and students.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has released a statement highlighting the increased risk of terrorism internationally. This is especially important for staff travelling internationally on work, as well as for students on placements or carrying out fieldwork. You are reminded that all work related travel overseas should be subject to risk assessments in the usual way, and, recognising current FCO advice, the traveller should be kept informed about terrorist activity and warnings.
Wellbeing Week was incredibly successful this year, with both staff and students engaging with the numerous activities which were running. The issues of wellbeing are incredibly important in the workplace and you are encouraged to take advantage of the sessions which run throughout the year.
