Research Review Exercise (RRE) begins
(26 November 2014)
The annual Research Review Exercise (RRE), an evolution of the previous RPE and REF preparation exercises, will take place over the next six months. The RRE portlet opens on 1 December for staff to update their RRE data.
There will be three key elements to the RRE:
- Output peer review, providing grades for the quality of individual research outputs
- Collection of data on research esteem and impact at an individual level, to complement institutional records on key impact “case study” files and major environment data
- Provision of individualised data for research income and PhD supervision
The RRE will collect key underpinning data for future REF preparations and other external research assessments. It is also a valuable tool for Schools and Faculties in terms of planning for their longer term research strategy.
The RRE will indicate achievement in research grant funding, doctoral supervision, esteem and impact, and will provide a profile of an individual’s work across each of the categories covered.
