Launch of the Rory and Elizabeth Brooks Doctoral College
(25 November 2015)
The launch of the Rory and Elizabeth Brooks Doctoral College took place on Thursday, November 26, bringing together PhD students and academics from across the new Global Development Institute. Funded by the Rory and Elizabeth Brooks Foundation, the College is the first and only of its kind in the world for postgraduate research into international development.
A multidisciplinary team of students and established academics, it will provide opportunities for up to 100 early career researchers, encouraging innovation and collaboration through rigorous research and teaching. The aim is to more effectively support young researchers to focus on the big problems and make a tangible difference, and to become the next generation of researchers, leaders and policymakers. The work of the College will also bolster the University’s commitment to addressing global inequalities, and making a difference to the lives of people living in poverty.
The Global Development Institute brings together the work of the Brooks World Poverty Institute and the Institute for Development Policy and Management.
