Global Development Institute launch
(28 January 2016)
The Global Development Institute (GDI), the largest dedicated development research and teaching institute in Europe, will be launched on Wednesday, 17 February.
The launch will feature a keynote lecture on inequality and the future of global development by Winnie Byanyima, Oxfam International Executive Director and University alumna. Winnie and the Institute will be introduced by Professor David Hulme, who alongside Professor Uma Kothari, will serve as co-head of the GDI. The event will be followed by a free drinks reception.
The Global Development Institute unites the strengths of the Institute for Development Policy and Management (IDPM) and the Brooks World Poverty Institute. Oxfam’s research has shown that half of the world's population –three and a half billion people – own no more than a tiny elite.
The launch will be held on Wednesday, 17 February, 5 - 6.30pm, at University Place – Lecture Theatre B.
