Staff Survey update

(28 January 2016)

In November we communicated details of the four key themes identified for attention in response to the findings of the 2015 staff survey and as part of the Faculty’s staff survey action plan. We also consulted on an initial Faculty level action plan in response to the headline themes. Colleagues were invited to complete a short survey, to rank measures identified under the themes of (i) change management and (ii) teaching staff and teaching facilities. Survey respondents were invited to add any other suggestions and also to provide additional suggestions for actions in response to the findings on (iii) workload/work-life balance and (iv) communication.

The survey attracted 175 responses. Of those, 117 responses were from academics, 53 were from PSS staff, 3 from research staff and 2 did not identify their staff category.

Final Faculty action plan

The action plan takes account of the findings from the consultation process.

In this version, the additions and modifications to the actions in the original plan are highlighted. It should be noted that a number of the actions cover more than one heading. Specifically, there is overlap between change management and workload headings, and between change management and communication.

Next steps

The actions will be put in place in accordance with the timetable and progress will be monitored by the Faculty’s Senior Management Team. We will provide an update on progress against the Faculty level plan in June this year.
