Humanities Teaching and Learning Showcase
(9 July 2015)
The Faculty’s Teaching and Learning Support Services team, in association with the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, held its tenth bi-annual Teaching and Learning Showcase earlier this month.
The theme for the day was “Using Multimedia to Enhance Teaching and Learning”. With over 90 staff in attendance from across the Faculty, it was the most successful showcase to date. Keynote speaker Michael Wood illustrated, through a combination of personal insight and clips from his own productions, how he engages and inspires people in his teaching of public history through the medium of film and television.
Other highlights from the programme included:
- practical tips and advice on creating and using films for teaching - Mike O’Donoghue, SEED
- the development and uses of MOOCs at The University of Manchester - Ian Hutt, EPS
- how to create visually rich and entertaining presentations with Prezi - Ruth Daniel, SALC
- the creation and development of a student research-led image database - Sophie Woodward and Philip Styles, SoSS
If you were unable to attend the showcase, the next event will be held in mid-January 2016. Further details will be announced later in the year.
