Cyber security update

(1 July 2016)

The Cyber Security Programme was developed to highlight the fact that cyber security is more than a technical issue. A key part of the project is to explain that behaviour and human error are a key factor in keeping the University safe from attacks. To support this aim, a number of new resources are now available to staff.

Online training

The Cyber Security Programme has developed a short online course which gives staff some simple tips on how to spot ‘phishing’ emails, which could make the difference between losing valuable information or protecting it. The course will take no longer than 15 minutes.

All colleagues have been pre-enrolled onto the course on Blackboard. Please use Chrome or Firefox for the best experience.

‘Restricted Intelligence’

Staff are also encouraged to watch ‘Restricted Intelligence’, a light hearted comedy mini-series which focuses on the importance of cyber and data security in the workplace. The videos produced to date, which are three to four minutes long, are sure to educate and entertain!
