Call opens for funding bids to enhance teaching and learning
(3 July 2016)
Academic staff are invited to submit funding bids for projects that enhance understanding of teaching and learning.
The Centre for Higher Education Research, Innovation and Learning (CHERIL), based within the School of Environment, Education Development’s Manchester Institute of Education (MIE), is launching a programme of project funding for the 2016-17 academic year.
In this round of funding, bids will be particularly welcome that will assist the University to better understand three areas.
- Differential attainment: what approaches can we use to ensure that students from all backgrounds achieve degree results reflective of their capabilities?
- Teaching quality: what approaches can we use to further enhance the quality of teaching and to enable deeper and more enquiring forms of student learning?
- Transitions: further to the changes in secondary education (Peal 2015), what are the implications for successful transitioning into higher education?
In most cases individual project funding will not exceed £20,000 and in many cases will be considerably less. Bids in excess of £20,000 will be considered, subject to additional scrutiny.
The deadline for submitting a bid for CHERIL funding is 5 September 2016.
