Manchester Policy Labs project

(11 June 2015)

Manchester Policy Labs are secure online discussion spaces or labs to which academics may invite policymakers, practitioners and other third party stakeholders. In these spaces you can discuss policy issues, and ultimately contribute research-informed ideas and solutions to social, political, economic and environmental challenges. Staff whose research falls within the social sciences are particularly encouraged to take part.

This scheme aims to improve research impact, by encouraging academics to share the findings of their research with policymakers.

Research topics which may be of interest to policymakers include:

  • Families and children
  • Aging
  • Immigration
  • Housing
  • Sustainability
  • Mental health or ‘well-being’
  • Development
  • Social justice
  • Social mobility
  • Ethnic and religious diversity
  • Energy
  • Education
  • Cities
  • Health
  • Crime, security and public order

However it is important to note that this list of themes is not exhaustive, and staff are encouraged to develop themes or labs around their areas of expertise. To find out more or to discuss your idea please contact: Tessa Liburd.
