Centre for New Writing Launches Micropoem Competition
(25 June 2015)
For the third year, the Centre for New Writing and the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures are pleased to announce the launch of #micropoem15. The competition runs until 10 July and the best poem will win a mini iPad, with additional prizes for second and third places. The winning micropoems will also be published on the Centre for New Writing's online arts journal The Manchester Review.
To take part, you need to tweet your poem along with #micropoem15. To coincide with the opening of the new Manchester arts centre HOME, and the advent of the new screenwriting MA at the Centre for New Writing, the theme of this year’s competition is ‘Film’. You could write about a film you love (or hate), a film you would like to see, or a memorable place or occasion which involved a film.
How to enter:
- Tweet your micropoem with the hashtag #micropoem15
- Your micropoem must be themed around 'Film'
- Your micropoem must be in the English language
- One micropoem per person
- The deadline for submission is 5pm on Wednesday, 10 July 2015
Winners will be announced on Twitter by 5pm on Friday, 17 July 2015.
The competition will be judged by colleagues from the Centre for New Writing: John McAuliffe, poet and Co-Director of the Centre for New Writing, and Tim Price, an award-winning playwright and screenwriter.
