Research Review Exercise - Revised plans
(27 February 2015)
In light of the REF2014 results and the first few School visits, it has been decided that the plans for the Research Review Exercise (RRE) should be revised.
This year, the priority will be to establish a consistency of grading and for the exercise to apply sufficiently rigorous practical definition of output grades.
A summary of the revised plans are:
- Complete an evidenced analysis of the deviation of forecast output profiles from REF output profiles.
- Training sessions for output review teams and a calibration exercise based on the REF2014 output submission, before the RRE output review begins. This will incorporate input from REF Panel Members (where available).
- The review will focus on new outputs and profiles will only be constructed on this basis. The deadline is extended to Friday, 29 May 2015.
- PDRs (or other one-to-one discussions of performance and plans) will include feedback and discussion on the robustness of the grading of REF2014 eligible outputs as well as the grades for any new outputs submitted to RRE.
