School of Social Sciences launches teaching resources

(6 October 2016)

Professor Claire Alexander, Professor of Sociology in SoSS, has been working with colleagues at Runnymede Trust, Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the University of Cambridge to produce a website chronicling stories of migration to Britain from AD43 to the present day.

Drawing on the words and research of over 60 historians based in universities and historical institutions – including the National Archives, the Imperial War Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Royal Historical Society – the website presents the often untold stories of the generations of migrants who came to and shaped the British Isles. It includes a range of resources and information for teachers.

Contributors to the website include Vice-President and Dean of Humanities, Professor Keith Brown, and Dr Allan Kennedy, Research Associate in British/Scottish History in the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures.
