Outstanding entrepreneurs from Alliance MBS receive funding awards
(23 February 2017)
Eight outstanding budding entrepreneurs have received funding awards of between £500 and £2,000 to further develop their solutions to business, social or environmental problems.
The competition was organised by Alliance Manchester Business School (Alliance MBS), alongside Manchester Enterprise Centre (MEC) and the University’s Intellectual Property commercialisation division (UMIP). It was open to all staff, students and recent graduates of Alliance MBS.
The awards showcase a wide range of innovative ideas in development including:
- DataSeer - a Big Data customer analytics service for video game firms for guiding software (video game) design decisions, from 2015 graduate Jedrzej Czarnota;
- Green Island Friends - a free-to-view, animated, online children's cartoon series on global virtues and character development in multiple languages, from lecturer Dr Duncan Thomas;
- a national-level Corporate Sustainability Coalition in India mobilising micro, small and medium-sized enterprises that form part of global value chains, from Dr Bimal Arora.
Alongside their funding, the award winners will attend Venture Further and Innovation Optimiser workshops to hone business cases, and they will also benefit from mentoring opportunities to ensure their enterprises continue to flourish.
