Academic and PSS staff invited to judge posters

(31 March 2017)

Organisers of the Postgraduate Summer Research Showcase (PSRS) are seeking academic and PSS staff to judge posters. The PSRS is a unique event that brings together postgraduate researchers from across the University to promote and cultivate interdisciplinary links. By bringing a large conference environment to Manchester, it also gives a platform for postgraduate researchers to practice their presentation and communication skills. You can read more information about the PSRS event here.

This year, new research presentation styles have been introduced to better support Humanities research topics and modes of dissemination. Therefore, the organisers are seeking additional Humanities academic and PSS staff members to act as judges. The poster judging allows postgraduate researchers to receive specific feedback and critique on their presentation so that they can identify areas of improvement for future presentations. The research itself is not being judged, just the presentation. This includes testing the student’s ability to disseminate their research impact and value to different audiences.

The event will take place on Tuesday, 27 June 2017. Judges are needed for the morning (10.30am -12.30pm) and afternoon (1.00-3.00pm) sessions. If you are interested or would like to receive further information, please email by 14 April 2017, with the subject line ‘FoH Poster Judging’.
