Have you thought about becoming a School Governor?

(7 July 2017)

As part of the University's widening participation and social responsibility strategy, we have one of the UK’s most extensive programmes of work with local state schools and colleges – particularly those in more challenging circumstances.

As part of this work, our School Governor Initiative:

    • helps staff and alumni to find volunteering placements as governors in local schools through our two partner organisations, SGOSS – Governors for Schools, and Inspiring Governance;
    • provides a network for University staff working as governors to share best practice, support each other and act as positive ambassadors for the University’s work with schools and colleges.

The Faculty of Humanities has over 40 staff who already volunteer as School Governors.

  • You can find out more about the role on StaffNet.
