Sociology Department to edit leading journal

The School of Social Sciences’ Sociology Departments has been successful in its bid to edit the British Sociological Society’s (BSA) journal, Sociology.
The SoSS editorial team comprises Dr Vanessa May, Professor Alan Warde, Dr Andrew Balmer, Dr Bridget Byrne, Professor Tarani Chandola and Dr Petra Nordqvist, and the term of office starts in January 2018.
Dr Vanessa May said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the new editorial team for Sociology, the flagship journal of the British Sociological Association (BSA). The vibrant Sociology department at The University of Manchester will offer an ideal home for this prestigious journal. We follow in the footsteps of excellent past editorial teams and are looking forward to working together with the BSA and Sage to ensure the journal's continued success.”
On the BSA website, Sociology is acknowledged as “one of the leading journals in its field. For more than five decades, the journal has made a major contribution to the debates that have shaped the discipline and has an undisputed international reputation for publishing original research of the highest academic standard”.
