Professor Jill Rubery appointed Director of Work and Equalities Institute

Professor Jill Rubery has been appointed Director of the new Work and Equalities Institute which will launch this September.
The new Institute, within AMBS, will build upon the excellent track records and complementary expertise of the European Work and Employment Research Centre and the Fairness at Work Research Centre to develop new interdisciplinary approaches to addressing core policy and intellectual challenges across work and equalities.
Fiona Devine, Head of School, AMBS, said: “Jill is excellently suited to lead our new high-profile Institute. She has undertaken a number of leadership roles at the School in the past and has been involved in a large number of research projects sponsored by the ESRC, the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Leverhulme Trust, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the European Commission amongst others.
Jill’s highly respected research and publications have covered labour market regulation policies and the role of minimum wages; new forms of work and flexibility; women's employment and women's pay; employers' working-time policies; and international comparative labour market analyses.”
