Blackboard update – including action for course leaders
(20 July 2017)
All staff and students who use Blackboard will be unable to do so from 27 – 30 July 2017 during its annual upgrade.
The upgrade will improve current functionality, incorporate security enhancements, provide performance improvements, and fix ‘bugs’.
In order for this work to be undertaken, Blackboard (including Turnitin and Grademark) will be unavailable to staff and students from 5pm on Thursday 27 July until 9am on Sunday 30 July. It should also be considered to be ‘at risk’ until 9am on Monday 31 July. Blackboard will be available for teaching from Monday 31 July 2017.

Student extended access
Also, in semester one of 2017-18, the access to Blackboard module sites by students will change and students will be able to see their own previous years’ Blackboard module sites. The change will not allow students to see all existing modules sites within the School, nor allow a student who is taking a current version of a unit to see the previous year’s version of that unit.
Course leaders of modules that ran during the last five academic years may want to access their own sites and, where appropriate, alter the visibility or settings of items such as online tests, discussion boards, model answers, or feedback on assessments, especially where the new extended access to Bb sites may facilitate unintended sharing of course or assessment materials between student cohorts.
