Future SALC colleague longlisted for prestigious literature award

Kamila Shamsie, who joins the Centre for New Writing in September 2017, was recently named on the longlist for the Man Booker Prize 2017, with her latest novel Home Fire (2017).
Kamila is the internationally-renowned author of six novels, including Kartography (2002), Burnt Shadows (2009), and A God in Every Stone (2014).
She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, a Patron of the Manchester Literature Festival, and in 2013 was named one of Granta’s ‘Best Young British Novelists’.
First awarded in 1969, the Man Booker Prize is recognised as the leading prize for literary fiction written in English.
