Opportunities from the Staff Learning and Development Team
(13 October 2017)
Sixty Second Skills videos
All colleagues can now sign up to a new video series from the Staff Learning and Development Team. ‘Sixty Second Skills’ has been created to share and promote short, snappy tips and tricks to support teaching, learning and staff development. Each video is provided by colleagues from across the University and covers topics from Academic Advising, Digital Literacy and Research Management Skills to Recruitment and tips for Supporting Students, plus many more.
- You can find out more and sign up for the videos on the team’s StaffNet page.
Teaching and Learning in promotions: training for the new criteria – lunch ‘n’ learn session.
If you sit on a promotions committee or help people going for promotion, and were unable to attend last year’s courses, the team is offering the chance to attend an extra session on the new criteria for teaching promotions, which have been accepted by Senate and are now rolled out in Faculties.
The session will take place at 12pm – 2pm on 25 October with a lunch provided. It will be run as a short interactive ‘lunch and learn’ session in the Staff Learning & Development rooms in Roscoe Building, giving you the opportunity to learn more and raise any questions.
- You can register on StaffNet for the course.
P&DR training for staff delivering academic P&DRs for the first time
As part of the University’s on-going support of the Performance and Development Review process, this session is aimed at academics acting as P&DR reviewers for the first time. Academics already experienced at delivering P&DR can attend as a refresher if they wish but should note this course does not address revised processes or documentation recently rolled out to Professional Support Staff (PSS) staff.
Two sessions are being held at 9.30am – 11am on 14 November and 27 February.
