Significant media coverage following Vincent Kompany’s graduation

(18 January 2018)

Last month Manchester City Football Club Captain, Vincent Kompany, graduated from Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) with a master's in Business Administration (MBA).

Vincent studied Alliance Manchester Business School’s part-time Global MBA, which is made up of core business and management courses, specialist electives and two practical business projects.

Commenting on his achievement, Vincent said: “I’ve always felt education is very important and this was instilled into me by my late mother from an early age. It felt like a fitting tribute to my mother to pursue my academic career by studying an MBA. The programme at Alliance Manchester Business School was the ideal option for me.”

Following his graduation, the AMBS Marketing and Communications team organised face-to-face BBC and Financial Times interviews with Vincent in the John Rylands Library. The BBC coverage aired first on 29 December. The AMBS website saw a 600% increase in website traffic on that day alone, with many visitors taking a look at the Global MBA pages. In addition, there were over 25 pieces of media coverage across top-tier media including BBC Breakfast, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC World, Financial Times, Sky, ITV, The Independent, The Times and the MEN.

Social media coverage saw an AMBS Facebook post about Vincent’s graduation reach nearly 11,000 people and shares and likes from key influencers such as Gary Lineker, SPORTbible, BBC's Sean Farrington as well as Vincent himself, all helped to boost coverage.
