Professional development

There is no minimum hourly requirement for the professional development of early career researchers in Humanities at The University of Manchester.

Researchers are encouraged to regularly review their professional development needs and to discuss their training and development needs in consultation with their supervisor(s) during regular review meetings.

Researcher development activities

Activities can include (but are not limited to):

  • attendance and participation in workshops provided by methods@manchester, artsmethods@manchester and the Researcher Development Programme
  • self-directed reading
  • discussion with peers
  • attendance and participation at conferences, supervision meetings, review panels
  • participation in reading groups and researcher-led initiatives
  • self-reflection
