Etiquette policy

Courses are booked through the training catalogue in eProg, via the Researcher development calendar, which lists courses for the current semester.

It should be noted that in planning their training programme, research students are expected to identify courses which will be most appropriate for their personal training needs and to manage their own diary in an efficient and professional manner. In making a booking participants are:

  • Committing themselves to attend the course or workshop for its full duration
  • Agreeing to arrive on time for the course
  • Indicating that they will participate in activities taking place as part of the course
  • Agreeing to undertake any pre-requisite activities as requested

If you are unable to attend a course please cancel through eProg asap or contact us to request a cancellation.

The majority of our workshops have waiting lists, therefore those who book on to a workshop but fail to attend are denying others a place. The current Faculty policy is that we contact supervisors directly to inform them of those research students who have booked to attend a workshop but fail to turn up and neglect to cancel their place. If you attend a workshop, please ensure to sign the register.

All courses MUST be booked via eProg. If you turn up at a session without a prior booking, you will be asked to leave. Class sizes are monitored in order to give participants the best experience therefore it is not appropriate to turn up on the day.

Please note that if you are on the waiting list for a session (which will show on your eProg as ‘pending’), you are still not allowed to attend unless you receive confirmation of a place having become available. If you attend a session and your name is not on the registration list, we will not be able to credit your attendance on eProg.
