Senate Elections 2009 - Results
THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER
Result of elections for Membership of Senate from September 2009 in the Faculty of Humanities electoral group.
The following stood for election to fill five seats on Senate within the Faculty of Humanities electoral group, four for a period of three years until 31 August, 2012 and one for a period of two years until 31 August, 2011.
A total of 58 ballot papers were received, of which 6 were either ineligible or invalid. Each elector was able to use up to five votes and the votes cast were as follows:

As there was a tie between Dr Hossain and Dr Malik, the result was determined by lot and Dr Malik has been elected by this method in accordance with paragraph 4 (f) of University Regulation 1 - Election of members of the Senate in Category 3 (members of the academic and research staff). REgulation 1 also provides for allocation of places of varying duration on Senate according to the number of votes cast. Accordingly, the following are declared elected for a period of three years from 1 September, 2009 until 31 August, 2012:
