Degree awarded: MSc

Duration: 12 Months FT and 24 Months PT

Entry requirements:

Applicants should hold a good first degree - 2:1 or above - or the overseas equivalent. An exception may be made for applicants with considerable professional expertise in educational settings who wish to pursue educational research at postgraduate level, especially where their first degree is in a non-humanities subject (for example, an experienced science teacher with a 2:2 degree in physics.)

Applicants must submit a personal statement and/or research proposal. This needs to explain why they specifically want to study for a research methods degree. It must outline the general topic they would be interested in researching and their experience (be it professional, academic, personal) relating to this. Until we receive this document we will be unable to consider your application.

Course fees: For entry in the academic year beginning September 2013, the tuition fees are as follows:

  • MSc (full-time)
    UK/EU students (per annum): £6,300
    International students (per annum): £13,000

The fees quoted above will be fully inclusive for the course tuition, administration and computational costs during your studies.

All fees for entry will be subject to yearly review and incremental rises per annum are also likely over the duration of courses lasting more than a year for UK/EU students (fees are typically fixed for International students, for the course duration at the year of entry). For general fees information please visit: postgraduate fees. Always contact the department if you are unsure which fee applies to your qualification award and method of attendance.

Number of places/applicants: There are typically 20 students per year following the programme.
