Degree awarded: Master of Arts

Duration: 12 Months. [Full-Time] 24 Months [Part-Time]

Entry requirements:

Degree in economics, finance or a related subject (eg maths, stats) in which you have achieved a high level of performance.  You should normally have a good training in the core areas of microeconomic and macroeconomic theory & a reasonably strong background in maths/stats.  For a UK student, this typically means a 1st or 2:1 Hons degree (or overseas equivalent), although a 2:2 Hons degree may be acceptable.  In addition applicants must also suppply the following; 

- A brief description of any macro & micro-economics/econometrics/mathematics/statistics courses taken on your undergraduate degree, detailing core texts used.  This does not have to be an official document.  A paragraph for each course unit taken will be sufficient.

MATHS/STATS PREPARATION

In common with all leading Masters level courses in Economics we require a certain level of knowledge of Maths & Stats before embarking on the formal MA training.

(1) Please visit our pre-session maths website where you will find information about the minimum level of knowledge of maths & stats that you should possess from your current/previous training.

(2) On the same website, please look at the details & content of our Pre-Session course on maths & stats which builds on the knowledge resumed in (1) and which is designed to equip you with further tecnhical skills that you will require before starting the MA. You are strongly advised to attend this course which is offered, free of charge.  The course runs during induction week & we recommend that you spend some time between now and Sept 2013 studying & familiarising yourself with the course material on the website, especially if you might not be able to attend the course.

Course fees: For entry in the academic year beginning September 2013, the tuition fees are as follows:

  • MA (full-time)
    UK/EU students (per annum): £6,900
    International students (per annum): £15,200
  • MA (part-time)
    UK/EU students (per annum): £3,450
    International students (per annum): £7,600
