Presentation by Fenella Fleischmann

'Second-generation Muslims in European societies: The relationship between religiosity and structual integration, religious socialisation and acculturation'

Arthur Lewis G030/031, 14.00 - 16.00

Abstract: 'Until recently, the religious dimension of diversity in European societies has received little attention in empirical research, mainly due to a lack of available data. The recent TIES (The Integration of the European Second generation) surveys allow a detailed investigation of different forms of religiosity and their predictors among the Turkish and Moroccan second generation from a comparative perspective. Distinguishing between several dimensions of religiosity among second-generation young adults, I investigate the relationship between structural integration, i.e., education and labour market attainment, and levels of religiosity.'
