Institute for Social Change

Our Research Mission

We seek to deepen the understanding of the ways in which the social and political life of a population changes in response to major socio-economic, demographic and political developments. We are an interdisciplinary research centre, bringing a wide range of perspectives to bear on our work. We use primary and secondary data sources to conduct theory-informed, empirically-rigorous and policy-relevant research in a comparative perspective.

Research Themes

Our research is based broadly on the following themes:

  • Political Behaviour
  • Social Capital
  • Ethnicity and the Labour Market
  • Religion
  • Social Inequalities in Education
  • Health and Occupational Attainment

For a full details of our projects please see our research project pages.
