A dissertation can be seen as the culmination of everything you have learnt at university, demanding as it does a whole range of skills and abilities: information and research skills, wide reading, critical thinking, academic writing, referencing and bibliographic skills, time management. Completing a dissertation is challenging, and demands planned, steady progress. It's also a chance to pursue in depth a topic that really interests you personally.
