Coping with Stress
Being a student can offer all sorts of opportunities for personal and academic development but it can also be challenging and disturbing at times. Doing what we can to look after our mental health is important for all of us. This is especially true at the start of a new stage in life, or when faced with pressures to achieve and be independent, be successful socially, deal with family and relationship changes or financial worries.
If you are feeling stressed and would like to talk to someone about it, the University offers a free counseling service available for all students, whether undergraduate, postgraduate or research students, at the University of Manchester, UMIST, Royal Northern College of Music, IDPM and MBS. It is confidential and consists of a team of professional counselors. They provide counseling for anyone who wants help with personal problems affecting their work or well-being.
The service is open 9.00 am to 5.00 p.m. Monday to Friday all year round except public holiday.
