Senior Arabic Language Tutor Nadia Abdelaal first began using the Blackboard Voice Board tool in 2013/14 to enhance students' listening and speaking skills for her Arabic language courses. The tool can be used both for in-class exercises and for homework, enabling Nadia to offer more opportunities for students to develop these core language skills while working at a personalised pace suited to them.

The screenshot to the right will show you how this works in Nadia's 2014-15 Blackboard course.

Benefits:

The Voice Board functions like a virtual 'language lab' enabling students to listen to and make their own audio recordings with options for tutors and peers to review and provide feedback.

Because the Voice Board is a digital tool which sits inside a Blackboard course space it can also be used in a remote context (e.g. for homework) to provide speaking and conversation practice.
