Making a difference
We aim to contribute to the social, economic and cultural success of the local, national and international community by using our expertise and knowledge to address the major challenges of the 21st century, and by producing graduates who exercise leadership to effect positive social change.
In the Faculty of Humanities, social responsibility is inspired by the historic and cultural legacy of the city of Manchester and the surrounding region, and a confidence in the importance of humanities to the positive development of our communities and wider society.
It is embedded in our research and learning activities, and recognised as a distinguishing feature of the Faculty and Schools by our staff, current and prospective students, alumni and other key stakeholders.
Social responsibility is one of our three core strategic goals in our Faculty of Humanities Strategic Plan 2020. It sits equally alongside our commitments to world-class research, and outstanding learning and student experience.
