Manchester Anthropology is renowned for cutting-edge research on the big issues facing societies today.

Our research brings a human-centred perspective to major contemporary challenges, from migration to climate change, the spread of digital technologies and AI, far right politics, race, indigenous rights, housing and energy transitions. Using fine-grained, long-term ethnography with people around the world, we tease out how everyday experiences shape and are shaped by large scale processes of social change.
