Retention Funding 2012-13

Call for Projects 2012 -13

Closing date: Friday 14th September 2012

£64,000 is available to provide resources and support for projects aimed at improving retention of students in Humanities and improving the student experience.

The funds can be used to pilot or initiate new activities or to distinctly enhance existing activity.  Any projects supported by retention funding must be sustained by the School funding in future years.

Schools may submit more than one bid.  No limit is placed on the size of bid for funding but the Faculty may only part fund a project if other bids are also considered worthy of funding or if the School has other projects funded.

Priorities for funding

Priority consideration will be given to bids which:

Reporting and dissemination

Successful applicants will be required to submit a report evaluating the impact of the project at the end of the 2012-13 academic year.  The reports will be disseminated via the Humanities Teaching and Learning website.  You may also be invited to discuss your project at a Humanities Teaching and Learning Showcase.

Applications and selecting projects will be coordinated through the Faculty via the Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning, the Faculty eLearning Manager and the Senior Faculty QAE Administrator.

Queries about the funding should be directed to Emma Rose in the Faculty Teaching and Learning Office.  For advice and support in developing the eLearning aspects of your application, please contact Cath Dyson, Faculty eLearning Manager at elearning@manchester.ac.uk

School Approval

All applications should have the support of the Teaching and Learning Director. If financial support is required to continue projects once Faculty funding has expired the Head of School’s approval will be required (an email clarifying support is sufficient).

Colleagues wishing to secure these funds are required to send the completed pro-forma to Emma Rose in the Faculty Teaching and Learning Office by Friday 14th September 2012 at the latest.

You will be notified during week commencing 1st October 2012 of the outcome of your application.
