Study abroad

Undergraduates can apply to spend a semester in their second year studying overseas.

This is through our European and Worldwide exchange schemes. Our department has partner universities in:

  • various European countries;
  • the USA;
  • South-East Asia;
  • Australia.

I couldn't recommend study abroad highly enough, in terms of both academic and social reasons.

Living in a new country is an amazing opportunity that doesn't necessarily come around that often, and being able to broaden academic study outside of your subject and outside of the UK context is also very interesting.

Furthermore, although it’s not for everyone, being able to truly test and improve your foreign language skills (if you go to a non-English speaking country) is an important skill that I will definitely take with me into the future.
