Izabela Mogielska
Izabela is a BA Philosophy and Religion Graduate who now works as a Campaign Media Executive at This is Gain.
What does your job involve?
Strategic planning and booking of above-the-line media, alongside end-to-end campaign project management.
Why did you originally choose to study your course at The University of Manchester?
I chose The University of Manchester (UoM) due to its city-based campus and the diverse range of course units available.
How did your degree help prepare you for your current role?
My degree has prepared me for the role of Campaign Media Executive by developing my critical thinking skills, which are particularly valuable when creating plans involving complex strategies. Additionally, it has helped me build confidence in presenting, which is especially useful when working directly with clients.
What has your career path looked like since graduation?
Collaborating with a range of departments on marketing projects has been especially rewarding. The opportunity to see a campaign progress from the initial creative brief to its final execution on TV has been highly fulfilling.
What are your personal highlights from your time studying with us?
The two course units that stood out most from my time at UoM are Science and Islam and All About Eve, as they challenged me in different but meaningful ways.
Science and Islam deepened my understanding of the relationship between faith and scientific reasoning, encouraging me to think critically and evaluate contrasting perspectives.
In contrast, All About Eve allowed me to explore themes such as ambition and identity while developing my analytical skills in interpreting literature and advertising.
Do you have any advice for current/aspiring students?
I would recommend applying for the Student Ambassador role, as it helped me develop my social skills while also demonstrating to a future employer that I already have valuable client-facing experience.
