Global Humanities Alliance (GHA)

Summary

  • The University of Manchester is a founding member of the Global Humanities Alliance (GHA).
  • The GHA’s mission is to raise the profile and social and political impact of the humanities and social sciences through an emphasis on research and teaching that takes up global issues.
  • The GHA's work incorporates diverse global perspectives and brings scholars and students together for critical conversations.

About

The GHA is managed through its Steering Committee, which has representatives and senior decision makers from all institutional members, and convenes working groups to support the GHA’s core themes. The Alliance fosters collaboration through joint research, teaching, and staff mobility programmes, including visitor fellowships.

The GHA is made up of 8 globally renowned universities:

  • Ashoka University, India
  • Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia
  • Mahidol University, Thailand
  • University of Manchester, UK
  • University of Melbourne, Australia
  • University of Nairobi, Kenya
  • University of Toronto, Canada
  • Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, Chile
