Alliance Manchester Business School PhD Scholarships 2025

Full PhD funding open to all nationalities. 

There is still time to be considered for a number of fully funded PhD scholarships in our Alliance Manchester Business School. 

The deadline for applications is 15 March 2025. 

Please read through the full details of this scholarship below. 

Key features of this scholarship

  • Open across all research disciplines in Alliance Manchester Business School
  • Full PhD tuition fees (4 years / 8 years part-time) 
  • Annual UKRI maintenance stipend - £19,237 p/a (2024/25)
  • Doctoral training support grant (PhD only)

How to be considered

In order to be considered for this studentship you must meet this criteria:

  • Hold a First Class or 2:1 UK bachelor's honours degree (or equivalent).
  • Hold or be expected to achieve a master's degree in a relevant cognate subject - normally with an overall average of 70% or above (or overseas equivalent).

1. Choose your PhD programme in AMBS.

2. Prepare a research proposal.

  • Guidance on preparing a research proposal can be found on the Alliance Manchester Business School website.

3. Find your supervisor:

  • You can see the collective supervisory interests of staff in AMBS by looking at this information.
  • You may also wish to look at our online guide ‘Find a supervisor’. 

4. Complete your application prior to the advertised funding deadline (see key dates below). Specify in the funding section of your PhD application form that you wish to be considered for the 'AMBS PhD School Scholarships'.

Scholarships will be awarded by performance against the criteria:

  • Performance in interview
  • Academic merit and preparedness for research
  • Quality and feasibility of research proposal
  • Consideration of ethical responsibility

Application Deadline – 15 March 2025

Funding Interview Decisions  – 30 May 2025

We expect to communicate the outcome to applicants by the dates specified above.

In some instances due to the competition for places and the volume of applications received, it may be necessary to roll your application forward to the next stage. If this is the case we will let you know after the initial deadline has passed. If your application is incomplete by the stage 1 deadline, your application will be rolled forward to stage 2.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide feedback on individual applications, as outcomes are determined by independent panels.
