Faculty of Humanities International Summer School
The Faculty of Humanities Summer School for American students 18-25 July 2026.
Overview
“We The People”
This year’s theme, “We The People”, celebrates 250 years of the American Constitution by offering a unique perspective on how people and communities impact the world around them.
Participants will learn from research experts in a range of fields such as arts, culture, economics, law, politics, business, and urban development to better understand the words of Margaret Mead:
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
The summer school experience will include:
- Academic sessions taught by leading experts
- Opportunities to learn and apply research methodologies, which you can use in your undergraduate projects or dissertation.
- Behind the scenes sessions with curators at the John Rylands Library and the Manchester Museum – European Museum of the Year 2025.
- Social events where students can meet Manchester students and have fun!
- Access to Manchester’s historic sites, vibrant cultures, music and food. Experience first-hand why the New York Times named the city as one of their ‘top places to go’ in 2024.
2025 summer school attendees said:
- “It was great to be in Manchester…being more aware of the cultural differences is important.”
- “The sessions gave me more of an idea of the modern Mancunian experience and resonated more with connecting my identity to this city.”
- “I would highly recommend for a quick study abroad program!”
- “Thank you all so much for this opportunity! I didn’t want to go to graduate school until I came here. I can’t wait to come back.”
You will stay in a single, en-suite, self-catered room with a shared kitchen at our Unsworth Park student residence.
