How to apply
Find out what you need to do before, during and after applying for a LEAP language course.
Who can apply?
LEAP language courses are available to:
- University of Manchester students
- University staff
- Alumni
- Members of the public aged 18 and over
Current University students with available free-choice credits may enrol on eligible LEAP courses using 10 or 20 credits.
Current undergraduate and postgraduate students without available free-choice credits can enrol by paying the relevant course fee.
Before applying, please read the course description carefully to make sure you've selected the correct language course.
These course descriptions provide a good indication of the expected level, and tutors may be available to briefly assess your language level when you apply.
Before you apply
Before submitting your application, we recommend that you:
- choose the language course that's right for you.
- read the course description and class timetable.
- check the application deadlines, course fees and term dates.
- review your previous language qualifications to make sure you're applying for the correct level.
- if you have non-UK qualifications, check the relevant University guidance.
If you're unsure which level is right for you, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) can help you identify your current language level.
Need to complete a Right to Study check?
If you're a member of the public, University staff or a University alumnus, you may need to complete a Right to Study check before your application can be processed.
Read the Right to Study guidance to find out if you need to complete a check.
